Maddie's 10 month post

My Maddie Louise is now TEN months old!! She's a sweet, loving, and sneaky little girl. She is still growing each and everyday. She's wearing 12 month clothes for the most part. She can still fit into some 6 month and 9 month clothes, but it's mostly 12 month. She is still in size 3 diapers (for now) and is still wearing Target brand during the day and Luvs at night.

She is still doing her 3 bottles. The morning and nighttime bottle are 7 ounces each (sometimes she doesn't finish the full bottle) and her afternoon bottle is about 4 ounces. I'm thinking that her afternoon bottle will be gone completely before she turns 1. I would really love for her to cut it out completely by the end of the month, but I'm not in charge of that! Sometimes she gets ahead of herself and doesn't finish her bottle. She will get up in the middle of it and go find Connor to see what he's doing. I have to physically put her back on the boppy and give her the bottle for her to finish it. Sometimes I even have to watch her finish it. I love that she holds her own bottle, but sometimes I get distracted myself and don't know if she's finished or not until a little later when I pick it up to clean it.

Maddie is still doing great with table food. There is nothing this girl won't eat. If it's in front of her, she will eat it. Cheese sticks are the perfect little snack for her. She loves them and they are portable. She also has been eating pouched applesauce. I'm going to need to get my baby bullet and pouch filler out again. The pouch foods are perfect for the ball field, so if it's something I can make, I'll definitely do it. This is the perfect way for her to get all of her fruits in. I'll be making "smoothies" for her and maybe Connor will eat them too ;)

She is still on the same sleeping pattern. 12-13 hours at night and two naps. Her afternoon nap is still around 3 hours and coordinates well with Connor's nap. Her first nap is pretty quick, around 30 minutes. She sure will let you know when she is ready for it. She's beginning to crawl to her crib and pull up on it when she is ready to go down. She's been doing that for the past 3 days now. It's just her way of telling me she's ready for a nap. I don't mind it one bit. It's definitely something different because we all know Connor will not lay down on his own. He doesn't have a problem going to sleep, he just doesn't initiate it. Maybe he will learn something from Maddie.

Maddie is all over the place!! We have to make sure to close doors because we never know what she is going to get into. Girl is always on a mission. Most of the time it's following her brother around, but whatever it is she's always determined. She has begun to climb stairs. We don't have stairs in our house, so she's never had the challenge. However, one night at a game, she decided that she was going to escape and climb up the stairs. It just blew my mind watching her go. She also has decided that she is going to climb down the step into our garage. It is crazy what this girl thinks she can do.

She hasn't really said many other words other than the 5 or so that she has been saying. She has started to kick and bounce when she gets excited. Most of the time she gets excited about food, but it's still funny to see her carry on with her bouncing. She has also started to let go of whatever she's holding onto and balance for a split second. Last night she shifted from Connor's dresser to my arm by completely letting go of the dresser to get to my arm. When I get her out of her crib, she will let go of the side to put her hands up so I can grab her. It's really only a split second, but it's something. I'm really not thinking walking is anytime soon, but it's nice to see her actually try to balance. She doesn't walk behind toys like Connor did, but he also never balanced like she is trying to. It's amazing at how different babies can be even when you give them the same treatment.

She has 2 new teeth, and possibly working on more!! She had a few days where she woke up around 7:30 (which is completely out of character for her) so I got the feeling that her teeth were coming in. Her teeth come in from behind her gums so I wasn't able to see anything. One day I ran my fingers across her gums, and there they were. They are beginning to come down to where you can see them from the front. Last night and the night before, she woke up crying in her bed (also out of character for her) so I have been giving her some ibuprofen and it's helped tremendously.

Here are some pictures I took of her today when we were eating lunch at the field. Her blue eyes are so beautiful, if I must say so myself ;)

9 Months Old

My little Maddie Lou is now 9 months old! This month has gone by so slow that I almost feel like she's older than 9 months. She had her well check up yesterday (April 30th) and weighed in at 20lbs 4oz (82nd percentile) and was 28" long (82nd percentile). She's hefty! She's also very healthy and doing great with her development.

She still sleeps great! It's shifted a little since baseball season has started. She's going to bed between 9:30-10 and wakes up at 9:30-10 each morning. On nights where there aren't any games, she's usually ready for bed around 9. She still sleeps until almost 10 on those nights as well. I like this much better, although it makes getting dressed in a timely manner a little more difficult. She takes 2 naps each day. Her morning nap is around 11 and is about an hour. Then she takes a 3 hour nap from 2-5 each day. Sometimes it's a little later, but it's pretty consistent in length.

She eats everything in sight! Girl can put down some food. I have to be careful to proportion out her food so she doesn't eat too much. If she sees it, she's gotta eat it. Even if she sees someone else eat, she has to eat. I have to be mindful of my snacking, which isn't a bad thing! Her favorite food so far seems to be mac n cheese, but she really isn't picky about anything. She isn't allergic to peanut butter, which is great news!

She also loves her sippy cup. If she sees one, she will drink out of it. She actually drank out of a straw today, which surprised me since it took Connor a while to figure that out. So, maybe I'll pick up some more straw cups. She does really well with the take n toss cups, but they ope and spill so easily. When she's done drinking, she just throws her cup. We are working on placing it back down on the table. We haven't quite mastered that one so far.

She is still doing her 3 7 ounce bottles each day. Sometimes she doesn't care when we give them to her and sometimes she does. I usually try to stick to 10, 3, and 8:30, but sometimes she wants them a little earlier. Tonight she wanted her bottle at 8.

Her clothes are all over the place. She wears mostly 6-9 and 6-12 month clothes right now. She can wear some 0-3 month shorts but fits better in 3-6 month shorts. Her waist really isn't that big, but since her thighs are so big she needs the 9 month pants just to go around them. I've tried 6-9 month shorts on her, and they are pretty big. They don't fall off, but 3-6 fit better for now. She is beginning to outgrow 9 month onesies, so the 6-12 month onesies fit better. She can wear 9 month shirts and dresses, but the shirts are beginning to be belly shirts. So I'll probably transition her into 12 month tops soon. All of her summer clothes are 12 month, so I hope these cold nights don't linger much longer.

She is crawling all over the place now. She really likes to follow her big brother around. If he runs down the hall into his room, it's only a matter of minutes before she's crawling in his room too. Sometimes he laughs at her when she follows him but most of the time he doesn't really care. She is also pulling up and cruising on furniture. I've also stood her up and had her balance for a split second a time or two. She has such strong legs.

She also claps a lot. It is so cute! We look at her and say "Maddie, can you clap?!" and she starts clapping and saying "Yaaaaaaay!" Goodness, I forget how cute the little stuff can be. She also has said "bubba" a few times in reference to Connor. It's sweet. She always smiles when he's around and laughs at him all the time (especially when he's in trouble!). She is very good about listening to "no." If she is crawling towards something she isn't allowed to get into (mainly Chipper's water dish and laptop chords), I look at her and say "Maddie. no ma'am!" and she stops, looks at me, and turns around. Occasionally she will get upset, but the most I've had to tell her no is twice before she listened. She is so much easier than her big brother was. I feel like he was in time out all the time before he actually listened.
