He Is Risen! Easter 2015

Easter, like any other holiday, was pretty hectic this year. Stopping at 5 different houses throughout the weekend was a little chaotic, but fun! We love spending time with all of our family!

We started off by heading to Columbia to spend time with my family Saturday. Cameron had to work, unfortunately, so I was on my own with the kids. We spent time with my mom, dad, and sister during the day, and had dinner with my grandparents, aunt, and cousin that night. The kids are both teething, so they've been a bit miserable this past week. But, somehow we made it through just fine. Emma and I made and decorated Easter cookies. My dad was the judge and picked one of mine to win! We also dyed Easter eggs, and Connor absolutely loved it. He wasn't patient after putting the eggs in the water, but what 2 year old is?!

We woke up Sunday morning to two baskets filled by the Easter bunny! Connor went straight for the chocolate bunny. He ended up eating that before breakfast... YOLO! Maddie really enjoyed emptying out her basket. She also went for her chocolate bunny, but we decided to save that for dada since chocolate for an 8 month old seems a bit extreme. We did not make it to church this morning (ugh!) because the kids are still pretty cranky from teething (I really hope it's teething).

Sunday afternoon was spent in Gastonia with Cameron's family. Cameron met us at his aunt's house, so we were pretty eager to get up there. Once we got there, we had a huge lunch, which was delicious as always. The kids weren't able to do an Easter egg hunt at my parents house in the morning, so I was relieved when his aunt (Dee, or Dee Dee as Connor calls her along with two of her grandkids) hid some eggs in her backyard. My mom and I made the 5 kids Easter shirts, so it was cute seeing all of them parading around the backyard, in their shirts, collecting the hidden eggs. After we hunted eggs, we played a little bit and then headed over to Cameron's great aunt's (I think that's right) house. They have annual egg fights. This was the first year I was able to witness this tradition. It was a little more hectic than I thought, but it was a lot of fun seeing everyone and having the littlest ones run around the backyard. Finally, around 4:30, we left. The kids were beyond ready for their nap and we needed to get back home to the pup. All in all, we had a great Easter. Hopefully next year we will make it to church!
