He is still a great sleeper. He has two naps during the day. The first is usually a quick 30-45 minute one just before lunch. The second is usually from 2pm-5pm. Sometimes they are later, but it just depends on what we've done that day. We start his bath around 8 and let him relax and play for a little bit. Once the bath is over, we get him dressed for bed and put him in his crib. He rarely fusses when we put him down at night. I think he enjoys the quiet time before he falls asleep. When he falls asleep, he is out until around 8:30-9 the next morning. I think he still has bad dreams because every so often I will hear him crying in his sleep. It isn't for very long and once he feels around for his paci and lovey (blanket) he is just fin. I'm not sure what else could explain this other than bad dreams.
He goes through phases of eating and not eating. Since his iron was a tad bit low at his 1 year appointment, and the iron supplements prescribed were making him sick, I've been giving him cheerios in the morning. He really seems to enjoy them and they have a lot of different flavors. For lunch he gets some sort of sandwich (turkey and cheese, ham and cheese, grilled cheese, or pb&j), yogurt raisins or raisins, and a piece of string cheese. He absolutely loves cheese! At dinner, he either eats what Cameron and I eat or he gets a piece of turkey, ham, or chicken lunch meat, some sort of fruit, and some sort of vegetable. This sounds like a lot of food, but we have it portioned out so where it's not too much. He doesn't really eat any snacks, unless dinner or lunch is a little later, because he naps through snack time. If he were to get a snack, it would be either a banana, piece of string cheese, yogurt, or puff snacks.
Connor now has 7, possibly 8, teeth. One of his bottom teeth popped through just after his birthday. I had no clue it was coming in until I looked a week and a half later. After his shots at his 1 year check-up, he became really congested and started wheezing. I took him to the ER because I was afraid he wasn't getting enough oxygen. The pediatrician said that he was moving enough air and it would pass in a few days (luckily she was right). She and I both thought it was side-effect from the shots, but one day I looked in his mouth and there it was. He always seems to get a little runny nose when his teeth are coming in. This past Friday and Saturday, two of his top teeth have broken through. I've been waiting for the other bottom tooth to pop through (which it may have this morning, but he won't let me get a good look) so I've been on the lookout in his mouth a lot lately. I felt something on the top and checked, and sure enough they both are there. He hasn't had a terrible runny nose this time (thank goodness!) but he's been a little grumpy during the day. Hopefully when all of his teeth come in, he isn't as miserable. Next are molars, and I am not looking forward to them.
We have taught him how to nod his head yes for "please." It is so cute! It used to be that when he wanted something, he would point at it then whine and fuss for it. But, I've worked really hard during the day to get him to nod his head for something he wants. He is so much better at it now. He will point to what he wants, I'll hold it up and ask him to say please, then he will nod his head. It took a lot of patience and repetition to get him to do it every time, but he is pretty good at it. I'm hoping he doesn't get it confused with "yes," but if I say "yes?" he will also nod his head. So, maybe he deserves more credit than I give him.
He keeps making the "guh" sound. I can't tell if he's saying "go" or if it means something completely different. He will point and say "guh." I've been naming the object of what he's pointing at (or what I think it is he's pointing at), but sometimes he isn't really pointing at anything. Most of the time he is pointing somewhere out a window. So, maybe "guh" means car? I'm not positive. This one is really throwing me for a loop!
He has also developed quite the little temper lately. If I tell him "no," he will find some object to spike down on the ground, squeal really loudly, or even swat at the air. I've noticed it more when his teeth are coming in, so maybe he is just miserable from that. I'm hoping it's just a temporary thing because of the teething, but he definitely has his daddy's stubbornness in him. Most of the time he's an angel, but every now and then I will see this stubborn side of him. When he does get this way, I have no problem putting him into time out. I don't want him thinking it's okay, even if it could be brought on by teething. One day he will learn, but until then I'll be the mean mom and put him in time out.
Here are some pictures of him having fun in the sun.
