12 Whole Months!

My boy is finally 1! We've made it through the first year. Somehow my little boy who was 8 pounds 2 ounces and 21 inches long has grown up. It's hard to believe he was ever that small. He is now 21 pounds, 5.5 ounces and 29 inches long. This puts him in the 50th percentile for weight and the 18th percentile for height. He's such a little squirt!

He is now formula and bottle free. Woohoo! He is drinking whole milk and absolutely LOVES his sippy cups. We have a few that we give him and he has no trouble with any of them. He drinks about three 7 ounce cups throughout the day (mainly breakfast, lunch, and dinner). He doesn't really drink much water because he takes his time drinking his milk. If he's finished with his milk, I will replace it with water and sometimes he would prefer to have the water anyways.

He eats a lot! He eats breakfast in the morning and it varies with what we have in the house. He really eats a lot for breakfast. For lunch, he usually eats half a sandwich and a side of some sort of fruit. He usually eats a meat and some sort of side or two for dinner. He doesn't really snack much during the day because his naps are during snack time. So, he seems to get in his calories during meal times.

He is still such a great sleeper! We try to put him down around 7:30, but recently it's been around 8:30-9. Whoops! He sleeps 12-13 hours each night and never fusses in the middle of the night. If he does wake up, I just let him fuss and he eventually goes back to sleep. If he does cry, it's in his sleep. I still think he has nightmares, but I'm not positive what it is. He has had a night or two where he cries for 30 seconds and then goes back to sleep. I think he's working on 3 new teeth, but only time will tell if that's really what it is.

He finally has both of his two front teeth. They are coming in fast and look so big! I think they're so cute. You can't really see them when he smiles for pictures, but if you get him laughing really hard you can see those pearly whites!

Some words he says are: mama, dada, baby, bye-bye, hi, hey, Mimi, Abbey, puppy (sounds more like bubby), and beep beep. It's so funny to hear him talk. He babbles then he will say something and continue on babbling. He pretends everything is a phone now. He even uses his hand. One night, while I was talking on the phone, he put his hand to his ear and said "hi" and then started babbling like he was talking. It was hysterical to see him copy me. He also likes to say "beep beep" when someone or something is in his way. One morning, Emma was in his bathroom doing her hair. He walked up to her and said "beep beep." She moved 6 inches out of the way and he proceeded to walk straight to his bath tub. It was so funny!

He is now walking 90% of the time! He had been taking steps here and there, but really wasn't interested in walking much. During the snowstorm, Cameron and I were trying to get him to walk back and forth in between us, but, again, he would only take a few steps and crawl the rest of the way. On February 17, he FINALLY took more than a few steps. He began walking further and further. I think his record on that day was about 12 steps. Progress!! That whole week, I kept picking him up on his feet so he could walk. Every time he took steps, he had the biggest smile on his face and I could tell he was proud of himself. The next week, he was beginning to pick himself up on furniture and walk a little ways. He was walking about 50% of the time. Now, he is much better about preferring to walk instead of crawl. He still has times where he knows he can get somewhere faster by crawling, so then he crawls. He also still has a hard time getting up from the ground without any assistance. If he has something in his hands, he is able to get up easily. However, if his hands are free, he will crawl to the closest thing to pick himself up on. He's able to walk for long distances but sometimes he loses his balance right away and falls down. He's still getting used to shoes, but shoes are a must!

He loves to read to himself. I usually give him a book of some sort in the car and it is so cute to hear him read to himself. The usual characters in his books are dada, mama, baby, Abbey, and Mimi. When he starts babbling, I have to turn the music down or off so I can hear it. It's the most precious thing I have ever heard. He's also discovered how to point to things he wants. I like this for the most part. It's nice to know what he wants, but if he wants something he isn't allowed to have he will get upset for 30 seconds. Fortunately, pitching a fit is short lived, but I would rather it not happen. I'm working on the whole ignoring the fit thing. A lot of the time I tell him to "stop" or "cut it out" and that usually makes it worse. So, for now, I'm working on just ignoring it and walking away. He also likes to push things around. If anyone needs help moving furniture, I'm sure Connor would love to help out.

Connor turns 1!

Connor's birthday was on a Friday. We started the day off by waking him up around 7:30 so he and Cameron would have some morning time together before Cameron left for work. Sam and Abbey were in town, so we met up with them for breakfast. He loved seeing them because he doesn't get to see them very often. Then, we went home so I could start getting things together for his party on Saturday. My little...... helper....... pulled everything out of my cabinets, so I had to clean that up in the midst of everything. We picked Cameron up from work to go to lunch. Connor loves Chick-fil-a, so that's where we took him. He eats an entire 4 piece grilled nuggets kids meal with apple sauce. Then we went back to Cameron's office so Connor could visit. He loves hanging out with everyone Cameron works with, as long as we aren't in the way! Then I took him home so he could nap. Nap time meant I could start baking and doing what I needed to in order to get things ready for his party. Cameron got off work around 3, so it was nice to have an extra set of hands. Connor woke up excited to see his dada home. Later, my aunt came by to see him for an hour or so. Unfortunately, she was unable to attend his birthday party so I was glad she could see him on his actual birthday. Sam and Abbey joined us not too long after Aunt Cathy arrived. Then, we all loaded up and went to the Hockey game. Cameron and I don't particularly like hockey, but we do enjoy going to the games. We weren't sure how Connor was going to do with all of the noise and sitting in the seats, but he seemed to really enjoy himself. He wouldn't stop watching the game. It was fantastic! Then, Cameron and I gave him some of our funnel cake around 8pm. Bad idea!!! He was off the walls. We ended up having to leave at 8:30 because he just wouldn't sit still. But, that was okay since he needed to go to bed and I still had cupcakes to bake. He ended up chilling out and then passing out.

Saturday, we threw a baseball birthday party for Connor at Fluor Field. We had so much fun! It was perfect 70 degree weather and Connor seemed to have a blast. He is loved by so many people. He woke up around 9:15 and was excited to see Sam, Abbey, and Emma. He had breakfast and played, while I packed everything up. My parents and grandparents got to the house around 10:30 because I was desperate for some help. I put him down for a nap around 11, and he finally fell asleep around 11:15. While he was napping, Cameron and Sam grilled the hot dogs. My mom, Cameron, and I packed up almost everything and headed to the field to set up. Sam, Abbey, my dad, and my papa all stayed behind so Connor could sleep some more. At 1:00, guests started piling in. We had a lot of food and some great company. After we ate, we sang happy birthday and let Connor dig into his smash cake. I'm not entirely sure how much cake he ate, but he enjoyed the icing! The red icing was everywhere! Somehow, Cameron and I managed to get it all off of him without having to bathe him. Then, it was time for presents. This little boy got everything imaginable. He's really into books and anything that rolls and makes noise. Well, he sure won't be bored around here anytime soon! Between wagons, 4-wheelers, and trucks/cars, he is set for good! When we finally got home, Connor passed out! While he was asleep, Cameron and I opened all of his gifts and put them together. It was SO much easier doing it while he wasn't getting in the way. Once we woke him up, he played with everything! It was so funny to see him go from toy to toy. He is so blessed to have so many loving people in his life. We had so much fun, and hope everyone did too! Here are some pictures my mom took of his party.
