It's hard to believe that our little boy is now ten months old! We are already starting to think about his first birthday party, which is actually a little exciting to me :) We haven't been to the doctor since his last well check-up so I weighed him myself. The scale said he weighs just over 20 pounds. I didn't measure him because I was way off the last time, and to get him to keep still for that short amount of time would be a huge challenge.
He's been off and on with his sleeping this past month. My child is the only child I know that will not sleep with a soiled diaper. He was waking up around 6am needing a diaper change. Luckily, he would go right back to sleep until about 8 or 8:30. These past two weeks, he's been much better about when he uses the bathroom and sleeps from 7:30-8:30 straight. The past few days he's actually been sleeping until 9-9:30, and I'm loving it! If he wakes up any earlier and doesn't need a diaper change, he will fall back asleep on his own. When he wakes up for good, he just chills in his crib until we are ready to get him out. He's never really woken up crying, but it's nice that he just chills and doesn't yell until we get him out. When I say yell, I really mean just belting out this long "ahhhhhh" sound at the top of his lungs. It's quite hilarious, just not so early in the morning. He is still taking two naps each day. They range from 45 minutes to 2 hours. It really depends on what we've been doing and how long he's been up.
We've started giving him a bunch of different food at meal times. He isn't a huge fan of meat, but he will eat it. I try to give him his meat before I give him anything else, that way he is focused on eating that and not trying to eat everything else first. He really is a great eater and is willing to eat anything. For New Year's, my mom made collard greens, pork roast, and black eyed peas. He ate every bit of it, which is more than I can say for myself. He is getting his bottles at 9:30, somewhere between 2-4, and again at 7:30. He is still only eating 7 ounces and, according to his pediatrician, that is plenty since he's eating table food.
He has attempted to take steps a few times now. He doesn't have his balance quite yet. I'll walk him and then let go and he will take a step and fall down. It'll come on it's own time. I'm not trying to push it because my life will never be the same once he starts walking. Cameron wants him to walk, but he's not the one that will be chasing him all day long. He also really likes to play with his toys in his playpen. This activity is one that I'm loving! He will play in there for hours at a time. I have to pull him out of the playpen to put him down for his naps.
We think he has a new tooth. It's a tooth next to his front tooth. His front two teeth are due any day now, though we've been saying that for almost two months! He was super cuddly for two days, so I knew something was happening in his mouth. He won't let me look but if I run my fingers along the top of his mouth, I can feel something. When he is laying down and laughing, I can see where his two front teeth are right on the edge. I'm just waiting for him to wake up with two front teeth. He doesn't get miserable with teething, he just gets super cuddly.
He also just learned how to shake his head "no". It used to be cute and funny, but now it's just a bad habit. He will look at something he's not supposed to do, shake his head and then do it anyways. He knows what it means, but he just doesn't always obey it. He also knows how to open a cabinet and empty it out completely. I don't really mind it so much, but I wish he would put everything back.
Here are some pictures of Connor. Please excuse his bedhead :)
